Discover the Benefits of Raw NZ Possum: A Nutritional Powerhouse for Your Pet

As pet owners, we’re always looking for the best options for our furry companions, and that includes their diet. In New Zealand, one unique and beneficial choice stands out: possum. This natural and sustainable protein not only provides essential nutrients but also supports your pet's health and well-being. Let’s explore why we love raw possum is a fantastic addition to your pet's diet.

Nutritional Benefits of Raw Possum

1. Rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty Acids

Raw possum is a powerhouse of essential fatty acids, particularly omega-3 and omega-6. These nutrients are crucial for maintaining a healthy coat, reducing inflammation, and supporting brain health. By incorporating raw possum into your pet’s diet, you can help ensure they enjoy a shiny, vibrant coat while promoting overall wellness.

2. Ideal for Pets with Allergies

Possum meat serves as a novel protein source, making it an excellent option for pets with food sensitivities or allergies. Since it's not a common protein found in many commercial pet foods, your pet is less likely to have an adverse reaction. Transitioning to a raw possum diet can help alleviate allergy symptoms and improve your pet's overall quality of life.

3. Lean and Nutrient-Dense

Straight from the bush, our raw minced possum is lean and packed with nutrients. Our grinds include muscle meat, organs (such as heart, liver, lung, and kidney), and edible bone, providing a complete and balanced diet that mirrors what animals would naturally consume in the wild. This combination ensures that your pet receives a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients.

Environmentally Friendly Choice

One of the unique aspects of feeding your pet possum is its environmental impact. Possums are considered pests in New Zealand, and their overpopulation poses significant challenges, especially here in Northland, where they can severely harm native wildlife and ecosystems. By choosing to feed your pet raw possum, you’re not only providing them with a nutritious meal but also helping to manage this issue. This approach utilises a natural resource without the need for poisons or harmful eradication methods, contributing positively to the environment and supporting local biodiversity.

Convenient Packaging for Easy Feeding

We understand that convenience is key for busy pet owners. That’s why our raw minced whole possum is available in a variety of convenient pack sizes: 1 kg, 2 kg, 5 kg, and a 6 kg chunky style mince. The mince is frozen and cut into cubes, making it easy to serve while ensuring your pet gets the freshest possible product. Our free-flow frozen packs allow you to take out only what you need, minimising waste and hassle.

No Additives, No Preservatives

When you choose our raw possum, you’re opting for a product that is free from additives and preservatives. We believe in providing the purest form of nutrition for your pets, just as nature intended. Our possum is as close to what your pet would eat in the wild as possible, ensuring they receive all the nutrients they need without any unnecessary fillers.

Conclusion

Feeding your pet raw products from PossumMan Petfoods is an excellent choice for health-conscious pet owners who care about natural nutrition and environmental sustainability. Possum, with its rich profile of omega fatty acids, unique protein source for allergy management, and nutrient-dense composition, offers numerous benefits for your four-legged friend.

By incorporating possum into your pet's diet, you're not only prioritising their health but also making a positive impact on the environment. Ready to give your pet the best? Explore our raw possum options today and watch them thrive on this wholesome, natural food straight from the bush!

Both Cleo (dog) and cat (Ollie) love their possum. Neither one of them gets flea treated, just don’t get fleas. Everyone comments that Cleo’s coat is so soft. Wouldn’t feed them anything else. Cats and dogs are carnivores.
